FOOD NO SOURCE OF VIRAL INFECTION

Coronavirus: no evidence that food is a source or transmission route

Due to the great uncertainty about the risks associated with the corona virus, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has issued a press release. It clearly states that the corona virus - like related viruses such as SARS - cannot be transmitted via food. The virus is mainly transmitted via «droplet transmission» (sneezing, coughing, exhalation). Food and its use are not a risk of transmission.
